Genesis Industrial Staffing is seeking a highly skilled Marine Diesel Technician / Marine Engine Mechanic for a long-term opportunity in the Mobile area.

This is a hands-on position for a mechanic who knows how to do more than routine maintenance. We are looking for someone who can diagnose difficult engine issues, perform major repairs and overhauls, and take ownership of getting critical equipment back in service.

The right candidate has strong commercial marine, heavy diesel, power generation, or industrial engine experience and is comfortable working independently while also helping lead a crew when needed.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose and repair diesel engine issues involving low power, excessive smoke, vibration, fuel systems, electronic controls, and internal engine failures.
• Perform major repairs, component replacement, and in-frame overhauls on large diesel engines.
• Service and repair major engine components, including main bearings, gear train assemblies, cylinder packs, cylinder heads, turbochargers, and related systems.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, fuel, and electronic-control issues using sound diagnostic practices and appropriate tools.
• Perform work efficiently while maintaining quality, safety, and customer-required turnaround expectations.
• Assist with rigging and lifting engines or heavy components for major service work.
• Work overtime when necessary to support repair schedules and minimize equipment downtime.
• Lead or assist a small crew on assigned repair and overhaul projects.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all jobsite safety procedures.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience repairing and rebuilding diesel engines in a commercial marine, heavy-equipment, industrial, power-generation, or similar environment.
• Strong diagnostic ability with mechanical, fuel-system, and electronic-control issues.
• Experience completing major engine repairs, in-frame overhauls, and component-level rebuilds.
• Familiarity with diesel engine platforms such as Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere, EMD, or comparable heavy-duty engines is strongly preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot independently and make sound repair decisions in a production-driven environment.
• Experience safely rigging and handling heavy engines or major components.
• Comfortable working overtime when needed to complete priority repairs.
• Ability to lead by example, communicate clearly, and keep work moving safely and efficiently.
• Dependable work history, strong mechanical aptitude, and pride in quality workmanship.
