Position Summary:

The Patient Scheduling Specialist/Bilingual schedules appointments by telephone. Appointments are scheduled according to scheduling guidelines, policy and procedures, department productivity and quality standards. The Patient Scheduling Specialist/Bilingual resolves routine to moderately complex issues, refers more complex issues to the Customer Service Supervisor..

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintains confidentiality of patients and corporate information in accordance with policy and procedures and federal and state regulations, including HIPAA guidelines;
2. Handles 100 plus calls per day;
3. Schedules appointments with accuracy, including updating demographic information;
4. Answers phones and provides information telephonically with 98% accuracy;
5. Verifies patient appointments within (2) two business days;
6. Adheres to corporate policies and procedures established for this position;
7. Responsible for quality and continuous improvement within the job scope;
8. Must demonstrate good organizational skills and have the ability to prioritize;
9. Requests and updates patient demographics while scheduling appointments, including insurance information. Provides information to patients regarding what is to be produced at the time of the visit (i.e., verification of income, insurance card, proof of address, etc.) according to the developed script;
10. Discusses patient account balance with established patients.

Qualifications:

1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. Must be bilingual.
3. Must have basic computer skills.
