Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Support students with moderate to severe behavioral challenges in an onsite paraprofessional role at a school in Wetumpka, AL. This contract position offers an opportunity to work closely with children requiring specialized assistance, including those with significant language disorders, learning disabilities, or speech-language impairments.
Responsibilities:
- Assist students in a language unit and one-on-one settings
- Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate behaviors such as eloping, biting, screaming, and kicking
- Provide support for toileting and other daily living activities
- Collaborate with educators and staff to create a supportive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 48 college credit hours
- Experience working with children on the autism spectrum, specifically with moderate to severe behaviors
- Proven ability to manage challenging behaviors using de-escalation techniques
- Comfortable assisting with toileting needs
- Ability to pass state fingerprinting requirements (ALSDE)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Location:
- Wetumpka, Alabama
- Onsite work at Garrett Elementary School and other designated locations
This role involves a standard 37.5-hour workweek, and candidates will undergo a brief 10-minute phone prescreening prior to school district consideration. Multiple positions are available.
