Software Engineer
Kforce's client in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Software Engineer III to join a collaborative Agile team responsible for building and supporting modern Open Banking applications and APIs. Summary: This role will focus primarily on back-end development using .NET Core, C#, and REST APIs within an AWS-hosted environment, while partnering closely with front-end developers, product owners, and other engineers to deliver scalable, secure solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced software engineer who enjoys API development, cloud-based applications, and working within a mature Agile environment. Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain Open Banking applications and RESTful APIs
- Build scalable backend services using C# and .NET Core
- Develop and support applications hosted within AWS
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Scrum Master, and fellow engineers in an Agile Scrum environment
- Participate in sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and deployment activities
- Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and application architecture
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field
- 5+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong experience developing applications with C# and .NET Core
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs
- Working knowledge of applications hosted in AWS
- Experience working within Agile/Scrum development teams
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with OpenShift
- Exposure to React or modern front-end development
- Financial services or banking industry experience
- Experience supporting customer-facing or high-availability applications
