Database Developer/Specialist

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a Database Developer/ Specialist to support the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Take the lead on complex SQL Server and Postgres design, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Support the effort to migrate and integrate data between SQL Server and Postgres environments.
• Contribute to our .NET MVC web applications (C#, Kendo/Telerik, front-end integrations).
• Work alongside a small team of developers in a collaborative environment.
• Help shape best practices for data access, schema design, and performance across our applications.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• 7-10 years of professional experience in software/database development.
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server schema design and optimization.
• Solid experience with Postgres, including performance tuning and cross-platform data considerations.
• Working knowledge of C# / .NET MVC web development.
• Comfort working in a small team where you may wear multiple hats.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently on complex issues.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with JavaScript.
• Familiarity with DoD contract work and software environments.
• Background in both application and database architecture.
