IBCS Engineering SME

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for an IBCS Engineering SME to support the PEO Missiles and Space, Integrated Fires Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) and technical authority for IBCS Increment 3 engineering efforts, supporting the IFMC Modernization Division.
• Apply Agile principles to complex hardware, software, and network systems across the IBCS Increment 3 engineering lifecycle.
• Provide technical oversight for requirements definition and traceability, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), hardware/software development, platform integration, configuration management, and test and evaluation.
• Lead efforts related to component and system qualification, technology insertion testing, failure review boards, reducibility, modeling and simulation performance, product assurance, and in-service support.
• Ensure system compliance with radio frequency (RF) and internet protocol (IP) network implementation standards for military systems.
• Serve as Senior Level Engineer responsible for technical integrity and coordination across all engineering disciplines for IBCS Increment 3 variants.
• Act as direct support to the Modernization Division Chief, offering strategic engineering guidance and maintaining discipline across IBCS technical activities.
• Recruit, retain, and lead a high-caliber technical workforce to meet PMO staffing needs.
• Prepare and deliver briefings, white papers, and technical updates for senior Army, OSD, and cross-service leadership, including ASA(ALT), OSD Systems Engineering, and the Army Acquisition Executive.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts between program offices, stakeholders, and technical agencies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree (or advanced degree) in a STEM field from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of 15 years of engineering experience with a focus on complex DoD hardware, software, or integrated systems.
• Proven experience with Agile principles applied to engineering activities and full system lifecycle support.
• Familiarity with MBSE, configuration management, and requirements traceability.
• Experience supporting Air and Missile Defense Systems or equivalent integrated defense systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, across multiple levels of stakeholders.
• Must be a US Citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in a STEM discipline.
• Agile SAFe engineering certification.
• Experience working within the DoD acquisition or sustainment ecosystem, including requirements development, engineering of fielded systems, or retrofit kit development.
• Familiarity with managing Technical Data Packages (e.g., mechanical/electrical drawings, interconnect diagrams, and interface documentation).
