Title: Student Minister
Classification: Ministerial Staff
Reports Directly to: Associate Pastor, Pastor

Principle Function: The Student Pastor’s primary objectives are to give spiritual direction and leadership to students of grades six through twelve to promote evangelism and discipleship by planning, promoting, coordinating, conducting and evaluating the youth activities of the church.

Basic Personal Responsibilities:
1. Above all, to grow closer to Jesus Christ through daily time with the Lord. Seek to keep Jesus Christ as the priority of your life, understanding that prayer, Bible study, and Christian fellowship are essential to growing in your walk with Jesus.
2. Keep family in the right position of priorities. Ensure your family come before everything except your personal relationship with the Lord, even the world of the church.
3. Be a disciple-maker who is constantly aware of opportunities to make disciples. Understand that disciple-making should be on your heart and mind as you minister to others around you.
4. Support the Senior Pastor and all other church staff and ministries. This will call for flexibility and a spirit of teamwork.

Qualifications
1. Must love God and have a personal relationship with Jesus.
2. Must have a heart and love for every generation.
3. Must be able to lead students and have the ability to point them to Jesus.
4. Must be able to teach the Scriptures in an applicable way to students.
5. Must have a good work ethic.

Primary Responsibilities:
· Understand the vision of the church and to serve accomplishing that vision.
· Oversee all major elements within the Student Ministry (7th-12th Grade) including:
a. Sunday Morning Life Groups
b. Wednesday night Student Worship
c. Student Camp
d. Start/implement Discipleship activities
· Recruit, equip, and oversee all levels of leadership within the Student Ministry including volunteers, parents, chaperones, and paid staff.
· Develop a strategy that engages parents in the first steps of their ongoing responsibility of sharing the Gospel & discipling their students.
a. Provide tools to equip parents as primary nurturers of their student’s faith.
b. Encourage the church family to play a supportive role in this endeavor.
· Responsible for all teaching materials and curriculum to be used by the Student Ministry.
· Continually evaluate trends in Student Ministry, implementing the best quality programming for students, while evaluating sustainability with volunteer staffing.
· Intentionally build relationships with students and their families.
· Create and maintain safe and welcoming environments for all guests, students, and their families.
· Effectively communicate with volunteers, parents, and our church via email, text/phone calls, website, social media, and printed materials.
· Build and manage the Student Ministry budgets in alignment with annual goals.
· Other duties as assigned by the Pastor

· Maintain an authentic and growing walk with Jesus Christ through the ongoing spiritual disciplines of Bible study, prayer, personal worship, confession, and discipleship.
· Love students and fostering their spiritual formation.
· A teachable and enthusiastic learner.
· Attend all staff meetings and staff functions as directed.
· At church for regular worship services and special services.
· Maintain flexible working hours as determined by the needs of the ministry.
· Stay current with ministry trends including continuing education by attending conferences.
· Self-starter needing minimal supervision.
· Aligned with organizational vision, goals, values, and policies of Memphis Baptist Church.
· Work well with others in a team environment.
· Represent Memphis Baptist Church well to staff, our team leaders, church members, and community.

Education
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university is preferred.
