A well-established law firm in Montgomery is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day financial operations and lead a small accounting team. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, hands-on, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, professional services environment.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing client trust accounts, supporting month-end close processes, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data. This individual will also supervise a team of 2–3 staff members and play a key role in maintaining strong accounting practices across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and reconcile client trust accounts, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all transactions
- Oversee and support month-end close procedures, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Monitor and verify proper disbursement of funds
- Reconcile internal databases and financial records
- Supervise, mentor, and support a small accounting team (2–3 direct reports)
- Assist with general accounting functions and process improvements as needed
- Ensure a high level of accuracy by reviewing detailed financial data and identifying discrepancies
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting preferred
- 5+ years of accounting experience
- Prior management or supervisory experience required
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and ability to prepare journal entries manually
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Highly organized with strong time management skills
- Detail-oriented with the ability to independently investigate and resolve issues
