A mail order pharmacy in Alabama is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to lead and ensure the smooth operation of its pharmacy services. This important leadership role involves maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations while overseeing daily mail order pharmacy processes. The position requires an active pharmacist license in both Illinois and Alabama, as these govern the PIC responsibilities.

Location:

• Rainsville, Alabama (flexible remote oversight possible)

Schedule:

• Approximately 8 hours per week
• Flexible hours to fulfill all PIC duties effectively

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee compliance with all applicable state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations
• Manage pharmacy policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality assurance programs
• Ensure accuracy in medication dispensing and uphold patient safety standards
• Maintain comprehensive documentation and reporting to meet Illinois PIC requirements
• Supervise pharmacy staff involved in mail order fulfillment processes
• Oversee controlled substance management, including DEA recordkeeping and reporting
• Prepare for audits and regulatory inspections; implement corrective actions as needed
• Ensure proper medication storage, handling, packaging, and shipping procedures
• Review and approve updates to SOPs, compliance logs, and other regulatory documentation
• Serve as the primary contact for state boards, accreditation organizations, and auditors

Desired Qualifications:

• Active pharmacist licenses in Illinois and Alabama (required)
• Additional licenses in Tennessee or Georgia are a plus
• Previous experience as a Pharmacist in Charge or pharmacy leadership role
• Deep understanding of mail order pharmacy operations and regulatory requirements
• Ability to work independently while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory standards
