Position Summary
Direct Care Staff provide hands-on support and supervision to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health needs in a residential group home setting. Staff assist individuals with daily living skills, ensure health and safety, support emotional well-being, and promote independence, dignity, and community inclusion.
Essential Job Duties
Provide direct supervision and support to individuals in the home at all times
Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), including:
Personal hygiene (bathing, grooming, toileting)
Dressing and laundry
Meal preparation and feeding assistance, as needed
Support individuals in following daily routines, schedules, and goals
Implement behavior support plans and follow de-escalation strategies as trained
Accurately document daily notes, incidents, and required logs in agency systems
Administer medications only if certified/trained , following all agency and nursing protocols
Transport individuals to appointments, community outings, work, or activities as assigned
Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly home environment
Communicate effectively with supervisors, nurses, therapists, and team members
Follow all agency policies, HIPAA guidelines, and state regulations
Respond appropriately to emergencies and complete required reports
Treat all individuals with respect, patience, and compassion
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Must be at least 25 years of age
Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and required clearances
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if driving is required)
Ability to work assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with individuals with disabilities or mental health needs
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Medication Administration Certification (MAC) or willingness to obtain
Experience with documentation systems or electronic health records

Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift as needed
Ability to assist with transfers and mobility support, when required
Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations
