Building modern day missile systems requires constant collaboration and innovation. Thats why were able to integrate systems from end to end so you can detect, control and engage the full spectrum of missile threats across every domain. Its why were investing in disruptive technology like directed energy, space-based capabilities and solid state-radar. To create layers of defense that help keep us all safe. As a Senior GNC Engineer , you will join the GN&C team on the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) program. In this role, you may be involved in many of the following activities: Apply missile guidance, navigation, and control expertise to modeling and simulation
Integrate Matlab/Simulink models into a 6-DOF C++ simulation
Develop high fidelity models and simulation software
Build new source code in C++ and Python
Modify code in C++, C, Matlab, Simulink, Fortran, Python, Linux shell, and YAML
Create unit tests
Execute simulation software on a high performance computing cluster including Linux systems or VMs
Work in an Agile DevOps environment with Docker/Container and Kubernetes deployment
Collaborate with the performance analysts, Flight Software team, and customer
Algorithm Development Successful applicants generally possess 3+ years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline, such as Aerospace Engineering or other technical field

Skill Requirements:
Broad technical skills such as rigid body dynamics, control theory, and/or computer programming.
Proven experience using Matlab and/or Simulink for simulations, analysis of feedback control systems, closed loop guidance, or navigation algorithms.
Demonstrate strong math skills in the areas of linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and/or coordinate transformation.
Ability to clearly document analysis results in presentation slides and engineering memos
Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment. Security Clearance / Work Authorization:
To meet requirements of the program/customer, this position requires the selected employee to be a U.S. Citizen.
Qualified applicants must possess at minimum a currently Active Secret security clearance to be considered.
Selected candidates will be required to maintain a minimum level, government issued Secret clearance for long term employment on this program.
Desired Skills:
Experience with simulations and physics-based modeling
Experience with state estimation and navigation algorithms, including Extended Kalman Filters
Experience with kinematics using Euler Angles and Quaternions
Experience constructing pointing budgets
Experience with autopilot design and linear stability analysis
Experience with missile or missile defense systems, particularly the THAAD algorithms and flight software
Experience with C++ development and Gitlab
Experience with FORTRAN and 6DOF simulations
Experience with model based software development using Simulink (autocoding)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability as a team player to build consensus among peers and build effective relationships with team members.
Demonstrated communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical issues to peers, management, subcontractors and customers.
Familiarity with software development, Agility
Distributed/parallel processing
Familiarity or experience with missile development or fire control
Cameo or Unified Modeling Language (UML)
CI/CD pipeline experience
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $101,000 - $178,135. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidates final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $116,200 - $201,365. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidates final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
