Our goal is to help 7000 hurting people and/or families in the next 10 years by providing high quality, wow-experience level legal representation in the areas of matrimonial and family law for people and families in the communities we serve during the most difficult and uncertain times in their lives. The person who serves in this role will play an integral part in helping us achieve this goal. The litigation attorney will represent clients in divorce, child custody, child support, dependency, modifications, contempt, legal separation, adoption, surrogacy, prenuptial, postnuptial, probate, and estate planning cases. The ideal candidate will be a team-player who believes that the practice of law is their form of ministry, the means by which he/she serves others, a person who is comfortable helping clients command the chaos that exists in their lives while also enjoying bringing joy and peace to people in difficult times, a person who takes responsibility and ownership of projects, yet knows the importance of relying on his or her team and connections to obtain the best results for his/her clients, a person who believes that his or her word is his or her bond, who embodies integrity always, a person who desires to seek justice, knows how to express gratitude, and has a humble spirit.
Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in mediation, depositions, court hearings, or before government agencies (DHR)
- Prepare and draft legal documents on behalf of clients
- Advise clients on business and legal transactions
- Negotiate settlements for legal disputes
- Conduct depositions
- Research and Brief Writing
- Comply with all legal standards and regulations
- Participate in the marketing functions and activities of the firm
- Perform administrative and management functions of the firm
- Meet reasonable annual billing requirements
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in and a heart for family and matrimonial law
- Familiarity with various legal documents involved in family law
- Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills
- Ability to build rapport with clients, opposing counsel, judges, and other professionals
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must be licensed to practice law in Alabama
- Must have at least five years of trial experience
- Trained Guardian Ad Litem
- Engaged in the community
- Ability to function within a team
- Ability to follow established policies, systems, and procedures
