PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR

Position Overview:
The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the production and repair departments, ensuring efficient workflow, optimal staffing, and adherence to safety and quality standards. This role directs cross-functional teams to meet production goals, maintain equipment, and improve operational performance. The Supervisor plays a critical leadership role in scheduling, training, process improvement, and problem-solving within a machining and assembly environment, with a strong focus on hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder manufacturing.
Essential Duties: (Additional duties may be assigned as required.)
- Oversee activities directly related to making products or providing services.
- Direct and coordinate activities of all departments concerned with production and distribution of products.
- Lead resources, prepare work schedules, and assign specific duties to shop staff.
- Determine staffing requirements and needs.
- Review equipment and tooling annually to determine replacement or upgrade needs while improving capabilities and efficiencies.
- Manage ongoing maintenance request procedure.
- Guide maintenance personnel and ensures proper cadence assigned to maintenance issues.
- Ensure all employees are properly trained on equipment and on safety standards and regularly report to management.
- Coach and train employees on all correction action request forms to find root cause.
- Work independently and/or coordinate with others and serve in a leadership role to oversee team of individuals responsible for the cylinder assembly process.
- Responsible for process-flow manufacturing operation to ensure required materials/parts are available and ready as needed to complete order on time.
- Schedule the flow of orders scheduled and in-process.
- Fill in on various jobs or workstations as required to cover vacations or call ins.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage direct report employees in new manufacturing and repair department with the highest integrity. Work closely with Plant Manager to develop and execute manufacturing and repair plan. Responsible for interviewing, training, appraising, rewarding, directing, and disciplining employees. Supervise direct reports in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Enforce company safety rules and policies. Address complaints and resolves problems. Other duties as assigned.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Made2Manage, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, and Microsoft Outlook.
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. / B. S.) from four-year college or university; or more than 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specialized Training:
Machine shop experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Hydraulic and pneumatic cylinder knowledge.
- CNC and manual machining knowledge.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to wear safety glasses and hard sole/close toed shoes with a low heel when walking through the manufacturing shop and/or repair shop whether as part of performing their job or just passing through. In addition, long hair must be tied back when around hazards of flame, machinery, or equipment.
The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
