About the Role:

Join the Chapter 13 Trustee's Office as the Director of Finance and Compliance, where you will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity and regulatory compliance. The postion is managment level and will have responsibility for all aspects of accounting and bookkeeping for the office of 23 employees. The position will have supervisory responsibility for employees that work in our finance and case audit departments, presently consisting of 7 employees.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations governing bankruptcy operations.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency.
• Conduct audits and risk assessments to identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare and present financial reports to the Bankruptcy Administrator and Bankruptcy Judges.
• Review and reconcile bank statements.
• Responsible for all phases of Human Resources for the office.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance and compliance roles.
• Experience in midsize organizations is a plus
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Professional certification (CPA, CMA, or equivalent) is a plus.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.
• Experience working closely with management teams and supervising employees.
• Executive presence with the ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial leaders.

About Us:

The Chapter 13 Trustee manages and distributes funds in Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases. We administer $60MM in assets annually and are responsible for ensuring the funds we receive are directed to appropriate parties. We are an independent contractor of the federal government and subject to oversight by the Bankruptcy Court, but we are not federal employees.
