The Patient Access Specialist is a key line-level position responsible for ensuring patients receive timely and efficient access to behavioral health services. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. PCI Employees are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs and departmental objectives, as assigned. - Greet patients, complete intake, and verify insurance and required documentation.
- Enter patient information, maintain records, and scan documents into VISTA Imaging.
- Schedule and confirm appointments and answer/direct phone calls.
- Collect applicable fees and maintain required payment records.
- Handle departmental purchasing and coordinate participant meals as needed.
- Provide administrative support across Behavioral Health programs.
- Maintain excellent customer service, professionalism, organization, and confidentiality.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and/or a combination of education and related employment experience in a confidential health setting, equivalent to five (5) years required.
- Five (5) years of data entry or clinical employment experience with customers is required.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and patient eligibility processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer systems.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to prioritize workload and work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to build positive rapport with patients while maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Dependable, accountable, detail-oriented, and able to follow policies and procedures.
