Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Greenhouse Technician to support trait introgression and related research initiatives within a greenhouse and headhouse environment. This is a hands-on role ideal for individuals who enjoy plant science, lab support tasks, and working in both team and independent settings.

Job Description

• Collect genetically engineered plant tissue samples for DNA and protein analysis
• Prepare buffer solutions for protein extraction from cotton leaves
• Plant and maintain engineered cotton seeds under optimal greenhouse conditions
• Assist in selecting, transplanting, placing, and caring for plants
• Monitor water levels, apply fertilizer, and prune and maintain plants as needed
• Conduct plant crossings, re-clip and string plants, and assist with harvesting activities
• Hang harvest bags and ensure accurate and timely collection of plant materials
• Maintain cleanliness in the greenhouse and headhouse areas, including proper disposal of plant waste
• Work collaboratively with a team and independently as required
• Work is performed primarily in a greenhouse and headhouse setting
  
• Conditions may be very hot and require standing or moving for extended periods
  
• Personal protective equipment and on-the-job training will be provided as needed
• Monday-Friday: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM M-F

Skills Required

• High attention to detail and strong observational skills
• Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
  
• Comfortable standing for long periods and working in high-heat conditions typical of greenhouse settings
  
• Willingness to perform physical tasks such as pruning, watering, and lifting harvest materials
  
• Prior experience in greenhouse, agricultural, or lab environments is a plus but not required

Education

• High School diploma required;

Pay Rate

• $16 per hour and higher depending on experience
