Surgical Assistant

Location: Cincinnati, OH

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Assistant to support surgeons during operative procedures while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will possess strong anatomical knowledge, excellent technical skills, and the ability to function effectively in fast-paced surgical environments.

Responsibilities:

• Assist surgeons during surgical procedures by positioning patients and maintaining exposure of the operative site
• Provide operative field visualization through retractors, suctioning, sponging, tissue manipulation, and irrigation
• Assist with hemostasis techniques, wound closure, suturing, skin stapling, dressing application, and securing drainage systems
• Perform harvesting of veins, radial arteries, tendons, bone, skin, and assist with plastic closure procedures under surgeon supervision
• Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with infection control and operating room safety standards
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and surgical teams to support positive patient outcomes
• Stay updated on surgical technologies, specialty procedures, and clinical best practices

Requirements:

• Associate’s Degree in Surgical Assisting or completion of an accredited Surgical Assisting program required
• Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and surgical procedures required
• Strong eye-hand coordination and ability to stand for extended periods required
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills required

Preferred:

• Minimum 4 years of general surgical experience preferred
• Minimum 2 years of specialty surgical experience preferred
