Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
Large manufacturing company is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for their facility located in the Mobile Alabama area. This role is a critical blend of project management and hands-on maintenance engineering, responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our heavy mechanical equipment and systems. The Mechanical Engineer will lead various capital projects from concept to commissioning, while also providing expert engineering support for maintenance activities to minimize downtime and optimize plant performance. Relocation provided to qualified candidates.

education: Bachelors responsibilities:
- Project Lifecycle Management: Lead and manage mechanical capital projects from initiation through planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure. This includes scope definition, budget estimation, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
- Installation & Commissioning: Oversee the installation, testing, and commissioning of new mechanical equipment and systems, ensuring proper functionality, performance, and integration with existing operations.
- Equipment Reliability: Analyze mechanical system performance, identify root causes of equipment failures, and develop and implement effective corrective and preventative maintenance strategies.
- Preventive/Predictive Maintenance: Develop, optimize, and implement PM programs (vibration analysis, thermal imaging, lubrication analysis, ultrasonic testing) for critical mechanical assets.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Provide advanced technical expertise and hands-on support for complex mechanical equipment breakdowns, diagnosing faults, and guiding maintenance teams to restore operations quickly and safely.
- Cost Control: Monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or safety.
- Safety in Design: Incorporate safety features and best practices into all project designs, ensuring compliance with internal standards and external regulations (e.g., OSHA).
- Spare Parts Management: Work with procurement and stores to optimize spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are available while minimizing carrying costs.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive initiatives to improve equipment uptime, reduce maintenance costs, enhance operational efficiency, and extend asset lifespan.
- Training: Provide technical guidance and training to maintenance technicians and operations personnel on new equipment, procedures, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Safety & Environmental Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture. Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities comply with company safety, health, and environmental policies, as well as all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
