Document Control in Engineering
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assisting with Shop Drawings:
• Support draftsmen by assisting in the preparation and detailing of shop drawings using AutoCAD Inventor.
• Ensure accuracy and precision in all drawing details to meet production requirements and industry standards.
• Collaborate with the engineering team to understand project requirements and translate them into detailed drawings.
2. Document Control and Database Management:
• Maintain and update the document control database using SharePoint and Excel, ensuring that all documents are accurately tracked, organized, and accessible.
• Assist in the development and implementation of document control procedures to enhance efficiency and compliance.
• Regularly audit the database to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the information.
3. Distribution of Drawings and Submittals:
• Distribute shop drawings and submittals to the appropriate production facilities and departments, ensuring timely delivery and receipt.
• Track the status of all distributed documents and follow up with recipients as needed to ensure project deadlines are met.
• Coordinate with the production team to address any issues or clarifications related to the distributed drawings.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
• Work closely with engineers, draftsmen, and production staff to facilitate smooth communication and workflow.
• Participate in project meetings as needed, providing updates on the status of document control and distribution tasks.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Inventor.
• Advanced skills in SharePoint and Excel are essential.
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with document control systems or procedures.
• Previous internship or work experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Working Conditions:
• This is a paid internship position.
• The intern will work at the company’s headquarters and may occasionally visit production facilities as needed.
