Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nations defense against ballistic missile attacks. The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.The Work
As a software developer on the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Fire Control (GFC) Battle Manager software team, you will be part of the team that writes the software (currently ~1.5million lines of code) that controls the missile defense system that protects the US. You will work in a collaborative environment to understand, implement, and test existing and new capabilities and algorithms. Many of the algorithms and capabilities implemented by the GFC team are mathematics and physics based complex solutions that will be highly visible to the GWS customer, Missile Defense Agency (MDA). In addition to software development, you will also be expected to support reviews of requirements and test cases that are developed in support of the GFC software team. Who We Are

Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline preferred from an accredited university and 5 years of related experience, or a Master's Degree and 2 years of related experience, or 1 years of experience with a PhD.
Strong background in math and physics is required
Recent and extensive experience developing software in Ada or C++ or Java
Willingness to become highly proficient with Ada software development
Quick to learn and able to absorb new concepts and information
Recent MATLAB and Python Experience
Unix/Linux Operating System Experience
Must be able to support an in-person / closed-area work environment
Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.
Applicants must have a current active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Desired Skills:
Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics
Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations
Experience with automated software requirements testing and analysis
Experience with the MDA GMD program.
Experience with Agile Project Management tools (Jira/Confluence) and DevSecOps tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) of continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off
