Job Overview:

We are hiring a full-time Medical Scribe to support a board-certified surgeon in a busy outpatient women’s health/surgical practice located in Homewood, Alabama. This is a great opportunity to gain paid clinical experience in a specialty medical setting-ideal for pre-med, pre-PA, or pre-nursing students during a gap year or while preparing for graduate programs.

As a medical scribe, you will accompany the physician during patient visits, entering real-time documentation into the Electronic Health Record (EHR). This hands-on role offers exceptional exposure to outpatient surgical care, women’s health, and oncological care workflows.

Responsibilities:

• Accurately document patient visits during exams and procedures.
• Input histories, physical exam findings, diagnoses, and treatment plans into the EHR.
• Assist with reviewing and maintaining patient records.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain patient confidentiality.
• Adapt to the physician’s workflow in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Maintain consistent, on-time attendance during clinic hours (40-42 hours/week).

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED (required).
• Bachelor’s degree or enrollment in a pre-health track (preferred).
• 1 year of clinical or healthcare experience (preferred, not required).
• Familiarity with medical terminology and basic anatomy.
• Proficiency with computer systems and typing.
• Medisys/WebChart EMR experience (preferred, not required).
• Strong attention to detail, grammar, and spelling.
• Clear communicator with a professional demeanor.
• Motivated, dependable, and eager to learn.
