Our role is for a Sr Process Safety Manager for our manufacturing facility in the Mobile, AL area, where in this role, you will be a key part of our management team, but HANDS ON every day, on the floor, working alongside production teams, equipment, chemicals, you name it. This is a HARD HAT WEARING LEADERSHIP ROLE!

This role will work closely with the plant management of the site and at the corporate level, and the EHS Department both at the site and corporate level and to assure proper information is developed, reviewed and made available to meet company, local and federal regulations, but leading and directing the effort to set up and report key metrics relating to the field of Process Safety to team, site, division and corporate leaders.

This role involves conducting risk assessments, facilitating safety reviews, and implementing best practices to mitigate hazards in manufacturing environments.

You will also be performing Post-incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis to get toe the core of why things have occurred and what changes are to be implemented to keep them from repeating.

This is a CHEMICAL PLANT FOCUSED role and thus, the ideal candidate will be a great communicator, presenter, trainer and advocate for SAFE PRACTICES AT THE PLANT, who will speak the language of the plant (Chemistry, Chemical manufacturing, Processes, etc.) and really ideally will come from the Chemical /Chemical Engineering , or similar manufacturing industry world. It would be a difficult match without this direct experience.

Some of the day to day work will include:

• Lead the development and implementation of process safety management systems.
• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA) reviews.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and EPA 40 CFR part 68 regulations.
• Develop key metrics to monitor process safety performance.
• Conduct audits and incident investigations to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Facilitate safety reviews and training for plant operations personnel.
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to manage changes in processes and systems.
• Support the organization in risk management initiatives and safety culture improvements.

We need this person to bring with them a bachelors or better, in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a VERY CLOSELY related field. It will likely NEED to be a Chemical Engineering Degree.

This is a SENIOR ROLE, and with that we need someone with at least 5-10+ years of experience in process safety management, preferably in a Chemical/Chemical Products manufacturing environment.

A Strong background with the 14 ELEMENTS OF PSM, their implementation, and a hands on proven track record of implementing improvements to safety through all of them, especially:

• MOC/MANAGEMENT OF CHANGE
• PSM INVESTIGATIONS
• MECHANICAL INTEGRITY
• PHA/PROCESS HAZARD ANALYSIS

The ideal candidate will also have a strong background with, and experience with Root cause analysis (RCA) use as a systematic method for identifying the source of a problem at the facility. Previous Experience with 5 Whys technique and the Fishbone diagram, Pareto chart, and Fault Tree Analysis , will allow you to hit the ground running.

Additional experience sought includes:

• Certified Safety Professional/CSP Certification HIGHLY DESIRED
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and EPA standards.
• Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and risk management methodologies.
• Proven track record in incident investigations and root cause analysis.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Certification in process safety management or related fields is preferred.
• MUST have STRONG EHS/HSE/Safety roots, with a strong leadership ability, and ideally a desire/skillset to be a role model and be recognized as a leader, subject matter specialist.
• Trained PHA Facilitator / Leader preferred
• Proven ability to lead teams, influence operations, and build consensus across all functions
• Experience with using and leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) studies by various techniques
