Piping Designer
Location: Birmingham, Alabama

Job Summary:
Genesis Staffing is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Piping Designer to join our team in Birmingham, Alabama. The Piping Designer will be responsible for developing, designing, and optimizing piping systems for power generation and utility projects. This role requires strong technical expertise, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and the ability to produce high-quality design deliverables that meet industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed piping layouts, isometrics, and 3D models for power and energy projects
• Interpret and apply P&IDs, specifications, and engineering standards
• Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and other design disciplines to ensure integrated project execution
• Perform field verification and site visits to support design accuracy and constructability
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations
• Review and revise designs based on feedback, project changes, and field conditions
• Support procurement and construction teams with design documentation and technical clarification
• Maintain organized project documentation and design files

Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 8+ years of experience in piping design, preferably in power, utility, or industrial projects
• Proficiency in design software such as AutoCAD, Plant 3D, CADWorx, or similar tools
• Strong understanding of piping materials, specifications, and industry codes (ASME, ANSI, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving abilities
