Broadband Network Administrator
Job Description
Job Description
Are you the kind of person who sees a network issue and immediately wants to dig into the logs, trace the route, and figure out the real cause? Do you enjoy solving complex technical challenges while working with a team that believes great service matters just as much as great technology? If you build solutions rather than just fix problems, you'll fit right in with Central Alabama Electric Cooperative and our wholly owned fiber-to-the-premise broadband subsidiary, Central Access, Inc.
We are seeking a skilled, service-minded Broadband Network Administrator to help power our continued growth. Since launching in 2019, we have earned a reputation as a world-class broadband provider, with a Net Promoter Score of 83 and American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) score of 91-both unheard of in the broadband industry. This success comes from building the business around the same service-first cooperative model that has guided CAEC for decades.
What We're Looking For:
We're seeking a technically skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment and possesses the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Three to five years of network administration experience, preferably in broadband, telecommunications, or ISP environments with strong working knowledge of enterprise IP networks, routing, switching, firewalls, and fiber technologies
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate and mentor others
Industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA, Juniper Junos, or Adtran GPON are a plus!
What You'll Do:
As our Broadband Network Administrator, you'll help ensure the reliability and performance of the Central Access network while supporting future growth:
- Monitor, maintain, and optimize the Central Access network to ensure high performance, security, and reliability
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, fiber transport systems, and access equipment
- Investigate alerts, diagnose root causes, and implement solutions to prevent service disruptions and maintain network stability
- Provide advanced technical support and serve as a subject matter resource for Network and Field Technicians
- Assist with network design, capacity planning, documentation, and participate in on-call rotation and emergency restoration activities
Beyond the technology, you'll also share knowledge and mentor coworkers to strengthen the team and ensure everyone grows together.
Why Join Us?
At CAEC, we believe technology should strengthen communities. Our cooperative roots mean we approach broadband differently-focusing on reliability, responsiveness, and genuine care for those we serve. When you join our team, you'll enjoy competitive pay, excellent benefits, opportunities for growth, and the chance to help operate one of the highest-rated broadband networks in the country.
Ready to help grow a world-class fiber network built on cooperative values? View the Broadband Network Administrator Job Description and apply today.
Applicants requiring reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process should notify the Cooperative's Human Resources Department at [email protected].
Application Deadline is 03/27/2026
CAEC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and a Drug Free Workplace
