Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Fredericksburg, VA 22401 (Virginia healthcare jobs)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (potential to extend)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Start Date: September 9, 2025
• End Date: December 9, 2025
• Setting: Hospital – NICU, Adult ICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, Pediatric units
• On-call: Mandatory on-call (2 shifts per month possible)
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend and holiday required
• Charting: Epic EMR
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1890-$1940

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent respiratory therapy experience (NICU, ED, Adult ICU preferred)
• Active Virginia RRT license or Compact license
• BLS and CRTT certifications required
• ACLS required (may start with ACLS pending, must obtain within 90 days)
• NRP and RRT credentials preferred
• Proficiency in airway management, medication administration, ABGs, oxygen therapy, suctioning, pulmonary toileting, BiPAP, CPAP, and nebulizer treatments
• Ability to float between NICU, Adult ICU, ED, Stepdown, and Pediatric units
• Community hospital and adult critical care experience required
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Travel healthcare experience required

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Deliver respiratory care to neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients in Level III NICU and Level II Trauma Center
• Float between NICU, Adult ICU, Emergency Department, Stepdown, and Pediatric units as assigned
• Perform airway management, medication administration, arterial blood gas draws and analysis, and implement/monitor CPAP/BiPAP therapies
• Administer aerosol, bronchial hygiene, and lung inflation therapies
• Attend monthly department meetings or review meeting minutes and acknowledge understanding
• Serve as Team Lead as needed and follow all departmental safety and quality protocols
• Participate in interdisciplinary care and communicate effectively with the healthcare team
