Kitter/Material Handler

Invariant is seeking an entry level Kitter and Material Handler to support production through detailed kitting assembly and transportation of materials between locations.
Duties Include:
- Assemble detailed kits by following work instructions and part lists accurately.
- Label, organize, and package components for internal use or delivery.
- Verify part numbers, quantities, and completeness of kits before distribution.
- Transport materials and completed kits between company locations using a company or personal vehicle.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and efficient kitting workspace.
- Assist with basic inventory control tasks such as counting, restocking, and updating records.
- Communicate any discrepancies, shortages, or damaged materials to the supervisor.
- Use basic computer tools to access kit documentation, print labels, or log kit status.
- Handle mechanical or electrical components with care and understanding.
- Support production teams with additional duties as needed, including general shop or warehouse tasks.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to follow written instructions and part lists.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
- Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
- Reliable transportation (if using a personal vehicle for errands).
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs and move materials as needed.
- Basic computer skills (e.g., checking spreadsheets, printing labels).
- Familiarity with mechanical or electrical parts is a plus .
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to comprehend and interpret blueprints to kit items from a BOM is preferred but not required
- Prior experience in kitting, inventory, warehouse, or production support is preferred but not required .
Work Environment
- Office, lab, field, environments.
- Demonstrates innovation, quick learning, excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing, and adaptive thinking.
- Requires ability to interact professionally in a small, fast-paced, and mission-driven environment with co-workers, management, and client.
- Work independently with minimal supervision, and to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential.
Physical Requirements
- Sitting for extended periods of time at desk, in telecoms/meetings with peers, management.
- Ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at customer worksites and Invariant facilities during travel.
Equipment And Machines
- Requires ability to operate a personal computer, telephone, printer, copier, and other general office equipment.
Attendance
- Normal workdays are from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Central Time, Monday through Friday.
- Support will be provided as needed during this time frame, but small efforts may be required at any time to support operations.
Other Essential Functions
- Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
This position is expected to be performed only in the state of Alabama.
