Minimum 1+ years Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

This contract position in Millbrook, AL offers an opportunity to support students in a specialized educational setting. The role involves working closely with children who have moderate to severe behavioral challenges, including eloping, biting, screaming, and kicking, in language units and 1:1 settings.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing direct support in a specialized language unit designed for students with significant language disorders, learning disabilities, or speech-language impairments
• Assisting students with moderate to severe behaviors, employing de-escalation strategies to manage challenging situations effectively
• Supporting personal care needs, including toileting assistance when required
• Collaborating with educational staff to implement individualized plans tailored to each students needs

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 48 college credit hours completed
• Experience working with children on the autism spectrum, particularly those displaying moderate to severe behavioral challenges
• Proven ability to apply behavioral strategies and techniques to prevent and manage escalation
• Comfort and competence in assisting with toileting needs
• Successful clearance of state fingerprint background checks in accordance with ALSDE requirements

• Schedule: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
• Contract duration: ASAP through May 22, 2026
• Onsite position supporting multiple classrooms, including language units and 1:1 support
