The Dental Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to the Dentist to ensure efficient, high-quality patient care. This role requires flexibility and a team-oriented approach to support overall program and departmental goals. This position reflects PCI’s core values of Perseverance, Opportunity, Accountability, Respect, Culture, and Honesty . Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Dentist with chairside procedures and patient care
- Take and process dental X-rays
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation
- Ensure proper sterilization, cleanliness, and infection control
- Prepare and organize instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms
- Manage supplies and maintain inventory
- Support scheduling, patient communication, and front desk tasks
- Perform basic lab duties and provide oral hygiene education
- Follow all safety, compliance, and clinic protocols
- Certificate in Dental Assisting from a Dental Assisting Program required. Must maintain annual continuing education hours as required for certification as Dental Assistant.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Dental Assistant required.
- Experience with dental software preferred. (Dentrix and Dexis)
- Must maintain current professional licensure in Basic Life Support (BLS) or obtain licensure within ninety (90) days of date of hire.
- Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain certification during the first week of employment.
- Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
- Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
- Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Proficient in computers, EHR systems, and Microsoft Office
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong multitasking, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
- Build and maintain positive working relationships
- Committed to quality, accountability, and professionalism
- Follow all policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Physically able to perform job duties, including lifting up to 40 lbs and extended standing
