FLSA: Non-exempt/Hourly
Position Purpose:
To provide custodial and minor maintenance for agency classrooms, office, common areas, utilities, equipment, fixtures, and materials for the facility and grounds. Follow health and safety procedures and perform safety inspections and checklist to ensure facility and grounds are hazard free.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
1.\tDaily cleaning of classrooms, offices, bathrooms, and common area, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and emptying trash.
2.\tSeasonal deep cleaning and maintenance of building interior and exterior (i.e. floor waxing, carpet cleaning, pressure wash building.)
3.\tEnsure that safety and health procedures are follow as directed by Maintenance Supervisor and or established policies.
4.\tPerform routine inspections and regular up keep of interior and exterior areas to ensure areas are free of safety hazards, trash, weeds, and other foreign materials.
5.\tPerform regular upkeep of outside areas, including lawns, landscaped beds, playgrounds and parking lots, to include weeding, trash and litter removal required to keep areas clean, neat, and safe.
6.\tAssist with moving office and classroom furniture, fixtures, and equipment to support increasing staffing changes, relocations, remodels, program expansions and custodial requirements.
Material, Equipment, Supplies, & Miscellaneous
1.\tMiscellaneous minor maintenance; (i.e. changing filters, unclog toilets, daylight bulbs etc.)
2.\tAssist with training and event set ups.
3.\tComplete Safety Checklist on a monthly basis.
4.\tAttend meetings and trainings as required or recommended by supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned.
5.\tReport needs for major repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor.
6.\tMaintain an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment.
7.\tMaintain an adequate quality of cleaning supplies.
8.\tEnsure electrical and plumbing fixtures are safe and functional, report maintenance and repair issues to Maintenance Supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
•\tHigh School Diploma or GED preferred and one year custodial or related work experience.
•\tValid Alabama Driver’s License.
•\tEmployment contingent upon the results of the following:
o\tBackground Check
o\tDrug Screen
o\tPhysical Capacity Examination
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•\tAbility to communicate (verbal and written) effectively and appropriately with others.
•\tAbility to read and follow detailed written and verbal instructions.
•\tAbility to use mechanical equipment, such as carpet cleaner, floor scrubber, vacuum, tools, etc.
•\tAbility to use various chemicals and cleaning agents.
•\tDaily lifting up to 50 lbs., to load and transport bulk supplies, furniture, fixtures, etc.
•\tOccasional lifting of over 70 lbs., with assistance.
•\tDaily standing for periods of several hours while executing various tasks.
•\tRegular crouching, bending twisting, stooping, kneeling, etc. to facilitate various repairs and maintenance activities.
•\tInclude occasional ladder climbing and crawling under equipment buildings etc.

Berean Baptist Head Start provides quality education and family support services to children ages three to five and their families in Perry County. During FY22, Berean Baptist Head Start offered center-based Head Start services to young preschoolers and their families at its two locations.

Federal, state, and in-kind contributions are used to operate the County's Head Start program. The State of Alabama provides funding in the form of reimbursement through the Child and Adult Nutrition Program, and through the generous contributions of thecommunity, Berean Baptist Head Start was able to maximize its funding to ensure the provision of services during this reporting period to promote children's school readiness.

As an early childhood program, Berean Baptist Head Start provides a wide range of services which help to ensure that all enrolled children and families have the necessary support to reach their individual goals. Some of the main services available through the program include health and development screenings, nutrition services, family support, and mental health services. These services work together to ensure
that children are growing and learning, while their families are well-supported and empowered.
