Under direct supervision, this position will perform MIG welding of both steel and aluminum sign components.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
- Read blueprints, work orders, or production schedules to determine product or job instructions or specifications.
- Lay out, fit, or connect parts to be bonded, calculating production measurements, as necessary.
- Select, position, align, and bolt jigs, holding fixtures, guides, or stops onto machines, using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Mark weld points and positions of components on workpieces, using rules, squares, templates, or scribes.
- Transfer components, metal products, or assemblies, using moving equipment.
- Prepare metal surfaces or workpieces, using hand-operated equipment, such as grinders, cutters, or drills.
- MIG Weld steel sign components that include steel plate, steel angle and steel tubing up to 1 ½” thick.
- MIG Weld aluminum sign components that include aluminum angle and aluminum extrusion up to ¼” thick.
- Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
- Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.

- Attention to Detail — Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks
- Mathematics — Using mathematics to solve problems- i.e. adding, subtracting, and converting decimals and fractions.
Required Qualifications (Measurable):
- 1-3 years of manual labor experience
- 2+ years of MIG welding experience preferred
- 1-3 years of heavy assembly experience (non-automotive) in a manufacturing setting (preferred)
- Welding Technology degree or Welding certificate (preferred)
- High School diploma or equivalent

- Ability to deal with stressful situations as they arise.
