Snelling is currently recruiting a Machine Shop Technician for an established electronic instruments manufacturing company in the Irondale area. The Machine Shop Tech produces parts for final assembly to specifications and packs orders for shipment.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm Payrate: $17.00-18.00/hr, depending on experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities of Machine Shop Technician:

Proper use of all tools, jigs, equipment, and supplies. Set-up work and properly executes all procedures to produce machined and fabricated parts to specification with minimal scrap and rejects. Produces accurate daily record of activities, quantities, time, rejects, and any necessary exception reports. Inspects unmachined parts and materials for correctness and proper fit and finish prior to processing. Checks finished parts for proper function and quality standards before moving them to the next step in production. Performs final test and inspection of products and parts prior to packing. Pack all orders for products and parts to avoid damage in shipment. Properly inspects, counts, stores, and produces accurate documentation of items received. Delivers and/or picks up materials and supplies to/from local vendors. Operates a forklift to load/unload freight trucks and store materials, parts, and supplies.

Qualifications & Requirements for Machine Shop Technician:

Education A high school education or equivalent is required. Technical training in machine shop procedures and mechanical drawing is desirable. Mathematical Skills Ability to count, add, subtract, multiply, divide, and measure, including fractions and decimals. 2+ years' experience working in a machine shop, manufacturing, construction, and/or building trade experience desirable. Be comfortable operating a drill press, lathe, vertical mill, saws, and hand tools common in a mechanical shop.
