Position Title: Sawyer

Reports to : Production Manager

Classification: Hourly

Department: Truss

The successful candidate will be someone who is safety conscious and detail oriented. Most importantly, the successful candidate will recognize they are part of a team and take pride in the quality of their work.

Purpose of Position: Operates web, linear, and component saws to supply the boards needed for the truss building process.

Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation).

• Safely utilizes basic saw types such as Linear, Component, and Web saws.
• Operates, sets up, general clean-up of saw assigned to.
• Ensures timely and accurate manual or automated feeding of lumber to assigned saw.
• Understands required grade/quality of lumber and Inspects finished products for quality.
• Monitor inventory and flow of materials and supplies
• Ensures that components are fabricated to established company guidelines
• Minimizes cuts for maximum efficiency
• Responsible for general cleanliness of work area.
• Continuous monitoring of quality and accuracy of finished product.
• Utilize proper shutdown and maintenance procedures
• Enforce the Lock Out Tag Out program
• Load the saw with lumber both by hand and with a forklift
• Cut lumber to specific dimensions
• Other duties as assigned.

• Ability to be alert, focused, and detail-oriented at all times.
• Demonstrates ability to follow specific instructions and directions.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment, as well as work alone.
• Demonstrate ability to use and operate hand tools, including reading a tape measure
• Demonstrate ability to stack material properly.
• Comply with OSHA requirements and standards to wear all applicable PPE properly.

Physical Demands

• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 80 pounds and carry objects 50 feet
• Must be able to see within normal range of vision with or without corrective lenses.
• Must be able to hear running machinery.
• Must be able to use hands, wrists, and fingers repetitively.
• Must have exceptional eye-hand coordination.
• Must regularly be able to reach overhead.
• Must regularly be able to sit, squat, bend, twist, and stand.
• Must be able to walk around regularly using steps occasionally.

Experience and Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous saw experience desired.
• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.

Work Conditions :

• Works inside and outside in temperatures ranging from extreme heat to extreme cold.
• Work with mechanical equipment daily.
• Work in areas with high noise levels
