Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available for the 2025/26 school year, supporting a K-12 educational environment in Decatur, AL. This contract role offers the opportunity to work with students across all grade levels, providing essential communication access and fostering an inclusive learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate effective communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing and their teachers, peers, and staff.
• Interpret signed conversations, lessons, and classroom activities accurately and professionally.
• Support students academic and social growth by ensuring they fully participate in educational opportunities.
• Collaborate with educators and special education teams to adapt materials and strategies.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.

Required Qualifications:

• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with experience interpreting in educational settings.
• Familiarity with educational terminology across K-12 grade levels.
• Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adjust to varying communication needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to student success.
