A Construction Fiberglass Hanger Operator (often referred to as a Fiberglass Machine Operator, Mandrel Operator, or Fiberglass Technician) is responsible for operating machinery to produce, shape, or hang fiberglass productssuch as pipes, panels, or componentswithin a manufacturing or construction setting. This role involves preparing, setting up, and managing fiberglass production lines, often involving winding, laminating, or spraying techniques.
Primary Responsibilities
- Machine Operation & Setup: Set up and operate production line machinery, including winders and conveyors, to produce fiberglass components.
- Material Preparation & Handling: Prepare fiberglass packs, string fiberglass tows, and mix epoxy or resin materials for production.
- Application & Fabrication: Apply layers of resin-saturated fiberglass, mats, or cloth to molds, ensuring proper adhesion and thickness.
- Quality Monitoring: Monitor the production process to detect defects, such as broken yarns, air bubbles, or surface inconsistencies.
- Finishing Tasks: Remove, trim, or cut cured materials using saws, knives, or specialized machinery.
- Maintenance & Safety: Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment, adhere to safety protocols (HSE/PPE), and ensure a clean workspace.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Proficiency: Ability to read and understand technical work instructions and safety procedures in English.
- Manual Dexterity: High level of hand-eye coordination for handling materials, tools, and machinery.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to spot defects and maintain quality standards.
- Experience: Previous experience in fiberglass production, manufacturing, or a related industrial field is typically preferred.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime and rotating shifts as required by production schedules.
