We are seeking a dedicated and motivated Apprentice Steel Fitter to join our team at M&J Steel, LLC. This role is ideal for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in the steel fabrication and fitting industry. You will work under the guidance of experienced professionals, learning the intricacies of steel fitting, fabrication techniques, and safety protocols.

• Assist in the fabrication and assembly of steel structures in compliance with technical drawings and specifications.
• Support experienced steel fitters in measuring, cutting, and welding steel components.
• Learn and adhere to safety standards and practices, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and report any issues to supervisors.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely project completion.
• Other duties as required.

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in steel fitting.
• Basic understanding of tools and equipment used in metalworking and fabrication.

Preferred

• Prior experience in fabrication or a related field (a plus but not required).
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.

• Familiarity with hand tools and basic power tools used in steel fabrication.
• Understanding of welding processes and techniques (MIG).
• Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations in a fabrication environment.

• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively within a team.
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the workday.

Already have fitting experience? This posting is for our Apprentice / Fitter-In-Training role, but we are also hiring at the Steel Fitter and Senior Steel Fitter levels. If you bring more experience than the apprentice role requires, we encourage you to apply - here's how the roles differ:

Steel Fitter - For fitters with proven experience. You will independently interpret drawings and specifications; cut, shape, and assemble steel components; install structural steel on-site; and conduct quality checks. Requires hands-on fitting experience, the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings, and familiarity with welding techniques and equipment.

Senior Steel Fitter - For seasoned fitters ready to lead. You will lead structural steel assembly, and mentor junior fitters and apprentices. Requires 5+ years of steel-fitting experience and strong knowledge of welding and structural assembly; prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
