Overview
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Laboratory Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of our laboratory department. This leadership role is responsible for supervising laboratory personnel, ensuring high-quality diagnostic testing, maintaining regulatory compliance, and driving operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/MT) or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) with strong leadership skills and a passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise the daily operations of the clinical laboratory to ensure accurate, timely, and high-quality testing.
- Lead, coach, and develop laboratory staff while promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Schedule, assign, and monitor staff to maximize productivity and ensure appropriate coverage.
- Ensure all laboratory testing and procedures are performed according to established protocols, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor employee attendance, timekeeping, and overall performance.
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, OSHA, and other applicable regulatory standards.
- Prepare and review operational reports, workload statistics, quality metrics, staffing analyses, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Assist with annual operating budgets, expense management, and capital equipment planning.
- Collaborate with laboratory leadership on strategic planning, process improvements, and departmental initiatives.
- Build strong relationships with physicians, hospital departments, outreach clients, and other healthcare professionals.
- Promote continuous quality improvement, patient safety, and operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, infection prevention practices, and workplace safety standards.
- Stay current on laboratory best practices through continuing education and professional development.
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Biological Science , or a related field.
- Current certification through one of the following:
- ASCP (preferred)
- AMT
- AAB
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Strong knowledge of laboratory operations, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Previous supervisory or laboratory leadership experience.
- Experience leading high-volume hospital laboratory operations.
- Budgeting and operational planning experience.
Candidates supporting pathology operations may also qualify with:
- Bachelor's degree in Cytology or Histotechnology , and
- Current ASCP CT (Cytotechnologist) or HT (Histotechnologist) certification.
- $60,000–$80,000 annual salary
