Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A high school counselor position is available in Birmingham, AL, for a non-specified year contract. This role focuses on supporting students' academic, social, and emotional development within a secondary education environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance to high school students on academic planning, career exploration, and personal issues.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to develop strategies that enhance student success.
- Assist students in managing challenges such as stress, peer relationships, and life transitions.
- Facilitate workshops and group counseling sessions addressing topics like college readiness and social skills.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure confidentiality of student information.
Qualifications:
- Valid counseling certification or license appropriate for the K-12 education setting.
- Experience working with high school students in a counseling capacity.
- Strong interpersonal and munication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and discretion.
- Knowledge of academic and career resources relevant to high school students.
