Experienced CMA – Phone Triage No Weekends | BCBS Insurance | 401(k) Match

Location: Mobile, AL
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:45 AM - 5:00 PM
Occasional late evening (typically 1-2 times per month, usually no later than 6:00 PM)

Pay: $16.50-$17.50 per hour based on experience. Exceptional candidates with extensive phone triage or specialty practice experience may be considered individually.

We are seeking an experienced, patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant to join our Phone Triage team. This role is ideal for a CMA who enjoys patient interaction, clinical coordination, and serving as a trusted resource for patients and providers alike.

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
  • Minimum of 5 years of medical office experience
  • Strong patient communication and customer service skills
  • Previous phone triage experience preferred
  • Epic EMR experience is a plus, but not required
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance

Essential Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming patient calls in a professional, courteous, and compassionate manner.
  • Assess patient concerns and appropriately triage calls to physicians or other team members.
  • Review incoming laboratory and diagnostic results as they are received.
  • Ensure laboratory or diagnostic findings requiring clinical review are presented to the physician promptly.
  • Coordinate follow-up care, including laboratory orders, diagnostic testing, appointments, and patient education as directed by providers.
  • Assist with prescription refill requests and ensure timely communication with pharmacies.
  • Maintain full compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements.
  • Cross-train to support additional clinical functions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
