Job Purpose

Performs diversified and complex tasks associated with visual and dimensional inspection, from first article through final inspection, required in the fabrication and development of composite components and assemblies, bonded parts, and other miscellaneous accessories.

Key Responsibilities

• Before use, ensure all inspection tools are within calibration dates and used within tolerance requirements by comparing them to instructions and specifications.
• Verify conformance to standards by comparing colors, shapes, textures, or grades of products or materials using inspection checklists, inspection method sheets, tools, templates, color charts, or samples.
• Inspect or measure products, installations, or work for conformance to specifications using precision measuring tools.
• Mark items with either a pass or fail rating for the assigned area using appropriate marking materials.
• Determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, adjustment methods, certification processes, formulas, or required measuring instruments by reviewing blueprints, data, manuals, or other documentation.
• Reject products, materials, or equipment that do not meet specifications by generating non-conformance reports and moving items to the quarantine area.
• Confirm materials match purchase orders by inspecting incoming materials and submitting discrepancy reports as required.
• Monitor machines that automatically measure, sort, or inspect products by validating results against specifications or requirements.
• Notify supervisors or other personnel of production issues via email, documentation handoff, or verbal communication.
• Ensure parts or details conform to AS9102 requirements by performing First Article Inspections (FAI).
• Perform internal audits and generate corrective action reports (CAR) using quality management software when findings are identified.
• Position products, components, or parts for testing by lifting or using transporter carts.
• Record inspection or test data such as weights, temperatures, grades, moisture content, and quantities inspected or graded in written or electronic logs.
• Stack or arrange tested products for further processing by wrapping according to requirements and placing them in assigned locations.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and suppliers through in-person, phone, or written communication.
• Scan information into appropriate systems using handheld barcode scanners.
• Train personnel on performing First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements using training materials or on-the-job instruction.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school diploma preferred.
• Two (2) or more years of hands-on manufacturing and/or quality inspection experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years of quality control experience preferred.
• Composite layup or assembly experience desired.
• Experience using measuring instruments such as scales, micrometers, and calipers.
