Labratory Technician 1
Full-Time Position Hours: Rotating Shifts (12 Hour Day and Night Shifts)

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Retrieve samples from designated sampling points within the production area throughout the shift.
- Perform quality Inspections on raw materials and finished products.
- Execute laboratory testing according to standard procedures, make observations, interpret findings, and communicate with operations throughout the shift.
- Report any issues to Quality Supervisor and Shift Team Leader/Production Personnel in a timely manner.
- Coordinate activities between Quality and Research functions.
- Assist production in solving product quality issues.
- Receive, label, and analyze samples.
- Organize and store all chemical substances according to safety instructions.
- Record all data and results in specified forms (paper and electronic) with accuracy and responsibility.
- Maintain lab and company equipment and assist in ordering laboratory supplies.
- Ensure all safety guidelines are followed and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Assist in projects and additional tasks as needed.
- Cross-Training in other departments will be required periodically throughout the year, which would involve working in the operating plant environment.
- Associate’s degree or 2 years’ experience in analytical lab with laboratory instruments preferred.
- Quality Assurance and Control experience in a manufacturing lab preferred.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication, and decision-making and critical thinking skills.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and project management skills, including the ability to work against pressing deadlines.
- Working knowledge of computer software, including Microsoft Office, and Excel.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to drive a vehicle.
- Must be willing to work additional hours as needed to ensure coverage for vacation and sick time as requested by team members.
- Communicating with internal and external customers – must be able to talk, hear, see, and comprehend.
- The use of a computer and phone – Must be able to type, write, grasp, sit and use a mobile device.
- Mobility of arms – Must be able to reach and use arms to manipulate small objects.
- Mobility inside the office space and plant- stand for extended periods of time, reach, bend, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
- Some exposure to dust, and noise levels that exceed a normal threshold.
- Typical work schedule consists of rotating shifts which includes working both days and nights periodically (half the time will be spent on days and the other half on nights, and weekends follow the same schedule (one weekend on days and one on nights per month). Schedule is subject to change based on resources and needs.
- Must wear steel-toed boots.
- Recommended: Safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, back brace, and safety attire as noted by guides provided in specific areas. These items will be provided by Harrell’s upon request.
