Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,681 - $3,900 per month

Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,681 - $6,034 per month

  • This is a part-time/full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
  • Positions at Fresno State are to perform their work onsite. Some positions, depending upon University needs and operations, may be eligible for remote work, one day per week, pursuant to Fresno State's remote work guidelines and the CSU policy.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Department Chair, the successful individual provides the full range of complex administrative and clerical functions in support of the Department and University. The position works closely with the Department Chair to assure that all administrative and clerical requirements for the department's main degree programs (Bachelor of Arts, Master of Arts, Minor, and Jewish Studies Minor and Certificate) are coordinated and completed in a timely manner and that faculty obtain classroom support for effective instruction. The position assists the Department Chair and faculty to support all administrative aspects of student learning, including the facilitation of classroom instruction, providing general information on programs and processes.

The position plans and executes a variety of large scale, complex projects involving coordinating and providing clerical and administrative support functions, at times requiring considerable discretion and judgment in the handling of confidential information. Departmental projects often involve a wide range of problems that require the use of reason, the interpretation of policies, and contact with individuals at all levels of the University and individuals on and off campus. The successful individual will serve as the office coordinator with full accountability for workflow and completion of the work assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Work with frequent interruptions while juggling multiple assignments and accept on-going changes (operational/personnel) adjust priorities and be responsive to short notice requests and deadlines.
  • Independently interpret and apply a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines my not exist.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, students, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds and the ability to maintain a flexible collaborative manner.
  • Coordinate clerical and administrative support functions including training and monitoring student assistant's work.
  • Perform standard business math, such as calculate ratios and percentages, track financial data, and make simple projections.
  • Ability to effectively handle interpersonal interactions at all levels and handle highly sensitive interpersonal situations.
  • Draft and compose correspondence and standard reports

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Four years of progressively responsible office administrative or clerical work experience.
