Clinical Supervisor (LPN/RN)
The Clinical Supervisor (LPN/RN) is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient care within a busy ENT practice. This role combines direct patient care responsibilities with leadership oversight of Medical Assistants and clinical support staff. Working closely with physicians and practice leadership, the Clinical Supervisor supports efficient patient flow, maintains clinical quality standards, manages staffing and scheduling, and fosters a positive and collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate is a clinically skilled nurse with strong leadership abilities, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering outstanding patient experiences. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Provide direct supervision, leadership, and support to Medical Assistants
- Create and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage across clinic locations.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and training of Medical Assistants.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to clinical staff.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and high standards of patient care.
- Serve as a resource for clinical questions, workflow issues, and patient concerns.
- Partner with physicians and practice leadership to improve clinical processes and operational efficiency.
- Collaborate closely with ENT physicians and providers to ensure effective clinic operations and patient flow.
- Room patients and obtain vital signs, health histories, medication reviews, and clinical information.
- Accurately document patient encounters, physician assessments, treatment plans, and procedures within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Process prescription refill requests and medication-related communications per physician direction.
- Assist providers with in-office ENT procedures including ear cleanings, nasal endoscopy preparation, allergy testing support, minor procedures, and other specialty services within scope of licensure.
- Perform clinical duties including injections, specimen collection, wound care, medication administration, and patient education.
- Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, medications, post-procedure instructions, and follow-up care.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, infection prevention standards, OSHA requirements, and clinical protocols.
- Monitor clinical quality and support efforts to maintain regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Manage medical supply ordering and inventory for multiple clinic locations.
- Monitor inventory levels and ensure clinical areas are adequately stocked.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding equipment, inventory, and clinical resource needs.
- Assist with quality improvement initiatives and workflow optimization.
- Support implementation of clinic policies, procedures, and best practices.
Required
- Current, unrestricted LPN or RN license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience in a physician practice, specialty clinic, ambulatory care setting, or similar healthcare environment.
- Prior supervisory, leadership, charge nurse, or team lead experience.
- Strong understanding of clinical operations and patient care workflows.
- Experience utilizing EMR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience supervising Medical Assistants or other clinical support staff.
- Experience in Otolaryngology (ENT), Allergy, Audiology, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or another outpatient specialty practice.
- Experience managing staffing schedules, inventory control, and clinical quality initiatives.
- Current BLS certification.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the clinic for extended periods.
- Ability to assist patients and perform clinical duties requiring manual dexterity.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to operate standard office and clinical equipment.
