QUALIFICATIONS:
Some experience in building maintenance related tasks. The completion of a two-year program in a building construction technology related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and aptitude to perform the defined duties. Certified in first-aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) preferred. Possess a valid drivers license. Must meet Park Board employment and physical standards, which includes a background check as well as drug and alcohol screening. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possesses ability to work independently as well as function efficiently in a team environment.
- Assists the Maintenance Team as needed under the direction of the Director of Operations.
- Demonstrates punctuality, dependability, trustworthiness, sound reasoning skills, strong work ethic, and a proactive attitude.
- Performs facility and equipment maintenance as needed, including general upkeep and repair. Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
- Possesses mechanical ability, skilled in the use of small power tools, is able to maintain small power and hand tools.
- Demonstrates knowledge of safe operation practices and maintenance of various tools, turf equipment, and motor vehicles.
- Has some knowledge of plumbing, masonry, electrical, painting, HVAC, and light construction.
- Experience in parks and recreation and/or maintenance certifications desirable.
- Is willing to work flexible hours with some evening, weekend, and holiday work as required.
- Acts as a team member with other Parks and Recreation staff, embracing and supporting the vision and mission of the CPRST Board of Directors and the City of Cullman.
- Establishes and maintains sound business and financial procedures in accordance with Federal and State laws, and CPRST system policies.
- Maintains professional internal and external relationships in keeping with CPRST core values.
- Work hours may vary, which will likely include nights and weekends, with hours varying based on time of year, events, and projects.
- Exhibits a high level of professionalism and ethics working amicably with the Park Board, the Executive Director, Administrators, Personnel, and Community.
- Exhibits proficiency in written and oral communication.
- Attends all meetings as required by supervisors.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work exposes the employee to adverse weather conditions and hazards associated with traffic, electricity, chemicals, and fumes. Protective equipment is required such as gloves, safety glasses, clothing, and boots.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands described here represent those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Frequent walking, reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting while performing job duties. Exposure to moving mechanical parts. Must be able to routinely lift fifty pounds of weight without assistance.
