Providing essential support in an educational setting requires patience, expertise, and specialized skills. This paraprofessional opportunity is designed for candidates experienced in working with students with moderate to severe behaviors, particularly within language units and 1:1 settings. The position is based onsite in Prattville, AL, offering a chance to contribute to impactful programs designed to support students with significant language disorders and intense behavioral needs.

Key Qualifications:

• At least 48 college credit hours completed
• Experience working with students on the autism spectrum exhibiting moderate to severe behaviors
• Proficient in behavioral strategies and de-escalation techniques, particularly for behaviors such as eloping, biting, screaming, and kicking
• Comfortable assisting with toileting and other personal care needs
• Ability to pass state fingerprinting requirements (ALSDE clearance necessary)
• Prior experience working in specialized or resource-based educational programs preferred

Location:

• Onsite in Prattville, Alabama, primarily supporting Garrett Elementarys language unit and 1:1 caseloads
• Position involves working directly with students who have moderate to severe behavioral challenges

Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with significant language and behavioral needs
• Implement behavioral strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviors effectively
• Support instructional staff by facilitating individualized learning plans and promoting positive student engagement
• Assist with personal care tasks and ensure safety and wellbeing of students throughout the school day
• Maintain clear communication and collaborate with educators and support staff to meet student goals

Additional Information:

• Contract position through May 22, 2026
• Approximately 37.5 hours per week
• Candidates will undergo a brief 10-minute phone prescreen prior to district submission
