We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join an organization in Birmingham, Alabama in a contract opportunity with permanent potential. This hybrid position offers the chance to contribute to a large accounting team while working in a collaborative, fast-moving environment. The person in this role will help manage receivables activity, respond to customer needs, and support accurate cash application using internal systems along with Excel and Outlook.

Responsibilities:

• Provide timely support to both internal teams and external customers by answering account-related questions and resolving receivables issues professionally.

• Monitor incoming payments and investigate unapplied cash to help maintain accurate account balances and records.

• Perform day-to-day accounts receivable tasks, including billing support, payment tracking, and follow-up on outstanding items.

• Use accounting software, Excel, and Outlook to document activity, review account details, and communicate updates clearly.

• Assist with collections efforts when needed by contacting customers regarding past-due balances and payment status.

• Maintain organized records and ensure receivables information is entered accurately and kept up to date.

• Work effectively in a high-volume setting while balancing multiple priorities and meeting established deadlines.

• Collaborate with the broader accounting team to address discrepancies and support smooth financial operations.

• Previous experience in accounts receivable, collections, billing, or a related accounting support function is preferred.

• Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate professionally with internal and external contacts.

• Familiarity with basic Excel and Outlook functions for tracking information and managing daily communication.

• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.

• Experience working within a large organization is preferred.

• Comfortable learning new accounting or insurance-related systems; prior experience with specialized software is not required.
