Master’s degree in School Counseling, Counseling or a related field, active School Counselor license and 1+ years School Counselor experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A counseling professional is needed to support high school students in Birmingham, AL, for a contract position through the next school year. This role focuses on providing essential guidance services that foster students academic, social, and emotional development within a dynamic high school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual and group counseling to support students' academic progress and personal growth
• Assist students with course selection, career planning, and post-secondary preparation
• Address behavioral and emotional issues through intervention and support strategies
• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and administration to develop student support plans
• Maintain accurate records of counseling activities and student interactions
• Facilitate workshops on topics such as stress management, study skills, and peer relationships
• Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student needs and progress

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
• Valid counseling certification/license as required by the state
• Experience working in a high school setting with adolescents
• Strong munication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage challenging situations with sensitivity and professionalism
• Familiarity with relevant state laws and school policies regarding student services
