The successful candidate is a results-driven sales professional who excels at building relationships, generating new business, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. They are equally comfortable networking with builders, contractors, architects, Realtors, and homeowners as they are consulting with clients to design functional, beautiful spaces. Combining strong sales instincts, design expertise, and project management skills, they serve as a trusted advisor from the initial conversation through project completion, consistently driving repeat and referral business.
Purpose of Position: The Kitchen & Bath Outside Sales Representative is responsible for growing sales by developing new business, building lasting customer relationships, and delivering consultative design solutions for builders, contractors, and homeowners. This position generates leads, creates customized kitchen and bath designs, manages projects from concept through completion, and develops strategic referral partnerships to drive long-term business growth.
Essential Functions: (must be able to perform these functions, with or without reasonable accommodation).
- Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to grow an assigned territory by generating new business, building relationships, and achieving established sales, gross profit, and market share goals.
- Prospect for new business through cold calling, networking, community involvement, industry events, referrals, and relationship development with builders, remodelers, contractors, homeowners, architects, interior designers, real estate professionals, and other referral partners.
- Build and maintain long-term customer relationships by serving as a trusted advisor, identifying customer needs, recommending solutions, and creating opportunities for repeat and referral business.
- Meet with customers to assess project requirements, budgets, and design preferences, and create customized kitchen, bath, and cabinetry solutions using 20/20 Design, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
- Prepare and present accurate designs, quotations, specifications, estimates, and proposals while recommending cabinetry, countertops, hardware, accessories, and related products that maximize customer satisfaction and project value.
- Manage projects from initial consultation through design, ordering, delivery, installation, and project completion by coordinating with customers, vendors, installers, sales support, warehouse personnel, and other internal departments to ensure an exceptional customer experience.
- Perform jobsite visits to verify measurements, assess project conditions, resolve issues, and ensure design accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain accurate customer records, project files, quotes, orders, pricing, and related documentation within company systems while ensuring timely communication and follow-up with customers.
- Stay current on industry trends, product offerings, design standards, installation practices, building materials, and manufacturer updates to provide expert product knowledge and recommendations.
- Represent the company professionally by participating in builder associations, networking organizations, home shows, community events, manufacturer training, and other business development activities.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and operational standards while performing additional duties as assigned.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven ability to generate new business and grow sales.
- Strong consultative selling and relationship-building skills.
- Experience developing referral networks and strategic partnerships.
- Knowledge of residential construction, remodeling, and cabinetry.
- Experience designing kitchens and baths.
- Proficiency with 20/20 Design, AutoCAD, or similar design software.
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings.
- Strong project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong negotiation and closing skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and business software.
- Ability to prepare accurate estimates and proposals.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- License and skill to drive a company service van.
- Valid driver’s license and clear driving record.
Experience and Education
· High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
· 1 year of experience designing kitchens and baths.
· At least 1 year of hands-on experience using 20/20 Design or AutoCAD in a professional setting.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, squat, reach, and use steps regularly.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are required.
- Ability to work in varied environments, including showroom, warehouse, and job sites.
- Must be able to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl as needed.
- Visual acuity must be within normal range (with or without correction).
Working Conditions
- Indoor showroom and office environments with climate control.
- Occasional outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat or cold.
- May work near moving equipment or machinery.
- Occasional use of small hand tools or showroom equipment.
