Physical Therapist - Travel Contract

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's or Doctoral degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program approved by the APTA.
- Active Alabama state license required to start the assignment.
- BLS certification required from AHA or ARC.
- Minimum 1 year acute care experience required; candidates with 2+ years preferred for first-time travelers.
- Experience with Cerner/PowerChart or similar acute care EMR preferred.
- Competence treating trauma, orthopedic, neuro, cardiac, post-op, ICU, and MedSurg patient populations.
- Ability to manage high daily patient volumes (typical caseloads 10-12 patients per therapist; up to 15 units per day).
- Must be adaptable, coachable, and a team player.
Preferred Qualifications
- MSPT or DPT preferred.
- Prior experience in a Level II trauma center or primary stroke center.
- Familiarity working with rehab aides and coordinating care across multiple units including ED and ICU.
Assignment Details
- Shift hours: .
- Standard hours per week: 40.
- Weekend rotation: approximately once per month.
- May be asked to assist for one major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy; coverage for some holidays may be required.
- Caseload may include any area within the hospital (trauma, orthopedics, neuro, MedSurg, ICU) including the ED.
- Orientation: three days in department with 1:1 support and Rehab Aide assistance during initial weeks.

Impacting Patient Care
Provide acute care physical therapy across diverse units in a 492-bed hospital with Level II trauma designation and a primary stroke center. Support includes Rehab Aides, HUC/reception staff, and charge nurse collaboration. Therapists perform evaluations and ongoing treatment across med-surg, ICU, ED, and specialty units. EMR documentation is completed in Cerner/PowerChart.
