Manual Machinist
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual lathes  to machine and repair hydraulic cylinder components
- Perform manual milling operations  as needed (drilling, slotting, facing, and basic machining)
- Machine parts including cylinder rods, tubes, pistons, and glands
- Cut metric and standard threads (ID and OD)  accurately on manual equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and job travelers
- Measure parts using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, depth gauges, and thread gauges
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure quality standards are met
- Perform basic inspections and document results as required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Primary focus: Â Manual lathe work
- Secondary: Â Manual milling as needed
- Machines: Â Manual lathes and mills (no specific brand requirement)
- Materials: Â Carbon steel and alloy steel commonly used in hydraulic cylinder manufacturing
- Minimum 3 years of manual machining experience  (lathe-focused)
- Proven ability to cut metric and standard threads  (internal and external) on manual lathes
- Experience machining steel components
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Hydraulic cylinder repair or manufacturing experience
- Experience working with close-tolerance components
- Ability to adapt to changing workloads and priorities
- Basic mill experience for secondary operation
