Aerojet Rocketdyne a L3Harris segment is a world-recognized aerospace and defense leader providing propulsion and energetics to its space missile defense and strategic tactical missile and armaments customers throughout domestic and international markets. We offer a complete line of propulsion products for launch vehicles missile defense and advanced hypersonic propulsion. At this location produce and develop a variety of energetic assemblies for rocket propulsion.

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative Technical Writer to join our Manufacturing Strategy and Growth team located in Huntsville Alabama. This position offers a unique opportunity to apply your skills in a green field environment. The ideal candidate will be a creative individual with strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for developing innovative solutions.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Writer with a focus on manufacturing processes that can take paper onboarding work instructions and transform into digital format using graphic design and HTML design.

Essential Functions:

• Develop write and edit high-quality documentation for manufacturing processes ensuring accuracy and clarity.
• Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) work instructions and technical manuals.
• Design and apply HTML for online documentation layout and content management.
• Utilize graphic design skills to create visually appealing and informative illustrations diagrams and infographics.
• Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to understand complex technical information and translate it into user-friendly documentation.
• Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to gather detailed information and incorporate it into documentation.
• Ensure all documentation complies with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Use CAD software to create and modify technical drawings and schematics as needed.
• Review and revise documentation regularly to ensure it remains accurate and up to date with process changes.
• Provide support in the creation of training materials and guides for new manufacturing processes.
• Compile information for assemble submit and monitor status of manufacturing change request packages.
• Champion the development of standardized manufacturing work instructions.
• Travel: 20%

Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree and minimum 4 years of prior Technical Writing experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior Technical Writing lieu of a degree minimum of 8 years of prior Technical Writing experience.
• 2 years experience manufacturing processes technical writing.

Preferred Additional Skills:

• Bachelors degree in Technical Writing Engineering Manufacturing or a related field is preferred.
• Proven experience in technical writing with a focus on manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in HTML design and content management is strongly desired.
• Experience with HTML based Manufacturing Execution System (MES)is strongly desired.
• Strong graphic design skills with experience using software such as Adobe Illustrator Photoshop and specialized illustration tools is strongly desired.
• Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks for creating and interpreting technical drawings.
• Knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and standards.
• Exceptional writing editing and proofreading skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex technical information.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Experience in the aerospace industry.
• Familiarity with regulatory documentation requirements for aerospace manufacturing.
• Certification in Technical Writing or a related field.
